Health 2.0
Health 2.0 is a new concept of healthcare wherein all the
constituents (patients, physicians, providers, and payers)
focus on healthcare value (outcomes/price) and use
competition at the medical condition level over the full
cycle of care as the catalyst for improving the safety,
efficiency, and quality of health care.
Health 2.0
integrates applications, services and tools that are
Web-based services for health care consumers, caregivers,
patients, health professionals, and researchers. PERL
Research is developing innovative solutions to provide
better care and information to families.

Sensor Networks
PERL Research is developing a rapidly
deployable networked sensor capability to overcome the
limitations of current stove-piped sensor systems.
This system provides flexible sensor reconfiguration,
resource management, interoperable comparison and
processing between large numbers of sensors in a
geospatial-temporal environment. It allows efficient
resource reallocation and resource sharing among
applications as the deployment and usage of the resources
has been tightly coupled with the specific location, sensor
application, and devices. The system consists of a scalable
front-end and middleware components for the discovery,
acquisition, management/control, and processing of remote
sensors. It integrates open technical standards of the Open
Geospatial Consortium (OGC) Sensor web Enablement (SWE)
framework with our secure portal communications. A key
component of the system is a portable sensor web node portal
that will allow plug-n-play sensors on the network. Our OCG
standards compliant design approach allows our front-end and
middleware components to be incorporated into many current
and future architectures.
